The map represents the total data collected and distributed along the
length of the road network, standardised per 100 metres to provide an objective
comparison parameter.
The absolute value gives us a tangible dimension of the problem,
but to improve the comparison between areas it was necessary to re-parameterise
the data to a common length of 100 metres.
To better contextualise the data collected, a comparison was made with the
resident population. The population density value was recalculated
for individual blocks within the urban fabric.
The values shown on the map show a higher population density in
Municipalities 3, 4, 6 and 8, confirming that the residential component is one
of the main factors influencing the generation of irregular parking,
although not during the night hours, which would have given us a clearer
view of this aspect of the phenomenon.
